Requirements
What each one needs
These are the minimums we build against. Where a platform has not been proven on real hardware yet, it says so.
- iPhone and iPad
- iOS 17 or newer, on a device with Metal — which is every iPhone Apple still supports. This is the minimum we build against; the App Store listing will state the final one.
- Mac
- macOS 14 or newer. The build is universal, and Apple silicon is what it is developed and tested on.
- Android In development
- Android 10 or newer with Vulkan 1.1. The Android app is still in development and has not been through a public build, so treat this as the target rather than a tested figure.
- Linux
- A 64-bit desktop with working Vulkan drivers. Built and run on ordinary Mesa and proprietary drivers; distribution packaging is not done yet.
- Network
- Wi-Fi once, to download a region. After that the app never needs a connection — not to draw, not to search, not to route and not to keep working.
Storage
How much room a province takes
A region is one file holding the map, the searchable names and the routing graph. Big provinces are big files, and that is the trade for never needing a connection.
A region runs from a few hundred megabytes to about two gigabytes. An Ontario build comes to roughly 2 GB — the whole province, every road and lake, the names and the routing graph. A small province is far less.
Downloadable today: Prince Edward Island at 30.3 MB. 25 regions are on the list in total, including Ontario, which is still being built.
Download over Wi-Fi and keep the file. Nothing is downloaded again while you drive, and nothing expires.

Three things people ask
Can I keep more than one region?
Yes. Regions are separate files and you keep as many as fit. Delete one and the others are untouched.
What happens if a download is interrupted?
It resumes. Downloads are ranged and verified against a checksum when they finish, so a file that arrived damaged is rejected rather than quietly used.
Do I need to be online to use a region again later?
No. Once a region is on the device it is used from the device. There is no check-in, no expiry and no re-download.
